What It’s Like To Stay At Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, A Serene Urban Retreat In The Heart Of TRX

As Kimpton’s debut in the country, the hotel brings together design-led interiors, destination dining, seriously impressive views, and curated experiences.

Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur is one of the metropolis’s latest hotels, marking the Kimpton brand’s Malaysian debut under IHG Hotels & Resorts. It is nestled within the coveted address of Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), the city’s vibrant international financial and lifestyle district. This affords the hotel views of cutting-edge corporate towers and the 10-acre TRX City Park, a rare green oasis in the city. Despite its central location, arrival at the lobby feels like stepping into a self-contained enclave. The rooftop pool provides the finest vantage point for this view, and it’s well worth making time in your itinerary to unwind here. Robb Report Malaysia recently checked in—and here’s our take on the stay.

The Best Room

The hotel offers 466 guestrooms and suites across 26 storeys, towering above The Exchange TRX mall, with views of the city’s iconic landmarks, such as Merdeka 118 and KL Tower. All suites come with a Dyson hair dryer, a Bose speaker, and an Illy coffee machine. Stay in the expansive 195 sq m Presidential Suite, complete with living, dining, and kitchen areas, along with a jacuzzi. With richly hued furnishings, rounded marble tables, and gallery-like artworks, the suite feels more like a stylish urban residence than a typical business hotel. Here, floor-to-ceiling windows frame dramatic views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline while bathing the interiors in natural light. Our only minor quibble was the absence of motorised curtains.

Getting Around

Connectivity doesn’t get better than this. Arrive in style with the airport chauffeur service, offering vehicles matched to your personality—such as a Ford Mustang, Mini Cooper, or Range Rover—alongside standard options like the Toyota Alphard.

The hotel is directly connected to The Exchange TRX Mall, which means you have leading luxury brands such as Dior, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and more on your doorstep. Take the dedicated underground pedestrian linkway, equipped with escalators, to the TRX MRT station, which connects you directly to destinations such as Bukit Bintang. To explore the city further with the wind on your face, borrow a foldable bicycle from the hotel and bring it on the MRT.

The Rundown

Are the restaurants worth their salt?
Kimpton Naluria KL has four dining and social spaces:

Sabato’s

The hotel’s signature Italian-American restaurant transports you back to 1970s New York with disco balls, a jukebox (yes, it really works), and stylish diner-style booths. Come at sunset for the sweeping views, settle in with a plate of Spaghetti & Meatballs, and round off the evening with Sabato’s Knickerbocker Glory.

Four Siblings Bar & Lounge

Come for the 26th-floor views at the only rooftop bar in TRX and stay for the menu. Described as Malaysia’s first and only spice-themed bar, it is inspired by four essential spices at the heart of Malaysian cuisine: cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and star anise. Sip on inventive cocktails like the Bees Sneeze, a tropical drink that layers the richness of toasted coconut with the warm spice of cardamom. South American influences run through the menu as well, and the Tres Leches cake is not to be missed.

Tuai + Till

This all-day dining restaurant offers a dual-concept dining experience, with local and Peranakan fare on one side and contemporary Western dishes on the other. Breakfast buffets are served here, featuring Malaysian breakfast staples like roti canai alongside fluffy pancakes. Dinner at Tuai was a delightful affair for us, with the Otak-Otak Toast and Tandoori Lamb Chops stealing the show.

Rise & Grind

The hotel takes its coffee seriously; this is an all-day espresso bar with a selection of artisanal coffees infused with local flavours. Grab a pandan latte and a Teh Tarik madeleine before you hit the road.

Does the resort have a standout perk?

Kimpton Naluria KL is a superb host that keeps its guests well fed. Head over for the Kimpton Kickstart, a complimentary daily morning energiser before you head off on your morning run. You’ll find a selection of Liberica cold brew coffee, Malaysia’s beloved teh tarik (pulled milk tea), and detox shots. In the evening, guests can enjoy wines, signature spice-based mocktails from Four Siblings, and curated chef bites during the Kimpton Social. The social hour is designed not only to delight the palate but also to encourage connections among like-minded travellers.

Are the toiletries full-sized?
Yes. Kimpton Naluria KL is the only hotel in Malaysia to carry Penhaligon’s toiletries, which come in full-size containers and are replenished daily by housekeeping. These are available in all suite rooms, while the Essential Rooms and Premium Rooms offer Argentum toiletries.

Is there a standout activity?
People are placing more importance on health and fitness than ever, and the hotel is ready to cater to the lifestyles of such guests. Make sure to book your slot for complimentary workout sessions led by expert instructors at Pulse, the hotel’s rooftop fitness centre. This includes Pilates, personal training, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), and early-morning sunrise yoga with fabulous views. Plus, the gym goes beyond the usual line-up of equipment, featuring a TRX (no relation to the area’s name) suspension training setup on the rooftop fitness terrace and a self-powered treadmill designed for high-performance workouts. All rooms also come with yoga mats.

Anything to keep an eye out for?

The Living Room, where guests check in, prioritises comfort over the feel of a traditional hotel lobby.

The hotel was crafted by the award-winning global design studio Hassell, which has projects such as W Sydney and Hong Kong’s K11 Art Mall under its belt. The idea is to bring Malaysia’s tropical rainforest indoors through the theme ‘Botanics Beyond Aesthetics: A Forest in the Heart of the City’. Take your time to appreciate the artworks strewn throughout the hotel, such as The Convergence of Man & Nature on Level 1 and Rainforest After The Rain on Level 3.

The Verdict
Kimpton Naluria KL is well suited to discerning business travellers who appreciate a more playful, lifestyle-led approach to hospitality. Its location is one of the best we’ve experienced yet: incredibly well connected, yet it still manages to feel tucked away from the chaos of the city. The hotel is also perfect for urban explorers seeking an exceptional base from which to experience the city. Don’t worry too much about planning; the hotel team is equally adept at curating local recommendations and personalised experiences for guests. We’ll also be keeping an eye on the Kimpton Kota Kinabalu, slated to open in 2031.
