The Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur Is Now Open For Bookings
A first look at the highly anticipated hotel as it welcomes its first guests.
The first Waldorf Astoria brand to debut in Malaysia is a reawakening of a prestigious address that was once the Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur. Located in the Golden Triangle district, the destination carries the memory of its past while opening space for new ones to be made.
Step in to be greeted by Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur’s ‘Layan Tetamu’—a reimagined expression of Malaysian hospitality, inspired by the warmth of welcoming guests as one would in their own home, where hosting is sincere, attentive, and deeply personalised.

Featuring 268 all-suite accommodations, the rooms range from 80 sqm one-bedroom suites to the 745 sqm crown jewel, the Waldorf Astoria Suite. This is a three-bedroom suite designed to be a private residence within the hotel, with two sides to consider. On the Garden-Pool View side, a grand entrance opens into a glasshouse garden featuring a living area, dining room for six, a residential kitchen, an entertainment room, a viewing lounge, and a butler’s pantry. There is also an in-suite spa with a double treatment room and a private gym.
On the City View side, each bedroom comprises dual vanities, deep standalone bathtubs, powder rooms, and generous walk-in wardrobes. At its focal point is the grand living room with an indoor balcony which flows to a formal dining room for 12, a guest powder room, and a private study.
In the months ahead, the luxury hotel will gradually reveal a curated series of experiences for discovery. Its dining offerings will bring together a roster of globally acclaimed chefs to present distinct concepts that will reshape the city’s culinary landscape. At Yaari, chef Garima Arora, chef-owner of Bangkok’s two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Gaa will present her interpretation of Indian fine dining. Elsewhere, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, whose flagship restaurant in New York City holds two Michelin stars, will present three concepts—JG KL, abc kitchens KL, and The Bar by JG—shaped by French, American, and Asian traditions.

As for its wellness offerings, the Waldorf Astoria spa will be offering personalised rituals and advanced therapies, with dedicated facilities for movement and recovery, including herbal steam rooms, a multi-sensory shower, vitality pools, hydrotherapy bathtubs, and an Oriental Hammam. At the wellness studio, guests will find Technogym’s new Sandstone collection, alongside a cryotherapy cabin and an anti-gravity treadmill.
Beyond dining and wellness, the Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur also features appointed spaces for gatherings—ideal for society occasions, glittering soirées, and moments that may recall the celebrations once held in the site’s iconic history.
Ahead of its opening, the hotel is also offering the Waldorf Astoria Indulgence Escape, which is now available for booking on its website. This offer includes breakfast and 15,000 Hilton Honors Points for members; applicable for a minimum two-night stay.
