The ninth outing of Glenmorangie Private Edition is Spios, the Scots Gaelic word for “spice”, so named for the spiciness its maturation in ex-American rye whisky casks imparts.
Specifically, first-fill rye whisky casks from Kentucky, which are then brought to Glenmorangie’s home in the Scottish Highlands and subsequently filled with the distillery’s distinctive spirit.
The resulting whisky is, as its name implies, full of bright spiciness, with elements of clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. This is bookended by a herbal, spicy nose and a lingering, rich finish.
