Mechanical rage
Noticeable. Loud. Colourful. Over-engineered in their beauty, and unmistakeable in their desirability. This describes Lamborghini supercars, but is now equally applicable to a Roger Dubuis hyperwatch. The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S is clearly inspired by the namesake car; in particular, the RD103SQ movement with its engine-like makeup starting with two balance wheels inclined at 45 degrees (with holders shaped like wheel suspension assemblies) and finished with ‘strut bars’ over an ‘engine cover’, out of which peeks a power reserve indicator. The hand-wound calibre also boasts of a jumping seconds complication, ensuring that this bold, skeletonised watch is as impressive inside as out.
