Langkawi rendezvous
On a recent road trip to Langkawi, Lamborghini Owners Malaysia (LOM) organised a packed but enjoyable weekend of driving, golf, scrumptious gastronomy and even a brief cruise. Meeting at the Sungai Buloh Rest Stop, the group drove up north to their first stop on Penang island. Checking into restored colonial mansion, The Edison Hotel, they wasted little time and hit the food trail to savour arguably Malaysia’s finest street and hawker foods.
Arriving the following day at the Langkawi Auto Express Ferry, all cars were on the island by 6pm and arrived on time at the The Danna, Langkawi. After a quick rest, everyone assembled by the beach for an al fresco barbecue. But wine, canapés and freshly grilled seafood was only the first half of the evening’s itinerary. After a gratifying dinner, the band of 25 drivers and partners retired to The Danna’s Cigar Lounge for a gin sampling experience.
Early the next morning, several individuals opted for golf at the Els Club Teluk Datai, while the rest took their Gallardos, Huracans and Aventadors out for a spin. Taking lunch on their own, the group gathered at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club in the evening for a sunset cruise and cocktails. Then it was off to the St Regis for a fine dining encounter that included a cognac pairing. With the discerning approval of each member, and many asking for more frequent excursions, the Langkawi Rendezvous came to a successful close.
