Here’s What Happened When We First Saw the New McLaren 600LT

Teasing MAlaysia

Open to select invitees, mostly consisting of current owners of McLaren cars, was a sneak preview of the new McLaren 600LT.

It was held at the soon-to-be-opening showroom and service centre of the new McLaren importer in Malaysia, McFarren Supercars Sdn Bhd.

Though road-legal, the 600LT is an unabashed mid-engined track superstar from McLaren’s Sports Series range. ‘LT’ stands for Longtail, a moniker dating back to 1997 and embodying an ethos of lighter weight and aerodynamic performance. This, the hotly anticipated fourth Longtail, has been lauded for its raw and precise handling. Its 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine kicks out a maximum 592bhp, taking the 600T from 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds. Weight-saving measures are extensively utilised throughout, including a super stiff and lightweight construction based around a carbon fibre monocoque.

Orders are being accepted now, and prospective buyers would do well to hurry. The 600LT does not have a set limited number, but production is expected to be short in supply and high in demand. Without duties, the base model goes for RM998,000.
