Scones, cucumber sandwiches and English teas immediately comes to mind when thinking of afternoon tea, but there’s a newcomer in town that seeks to disrupt that. Dubbed “the first Italian afternoon tea in Bukit Bintang”, Prego at The Westin Kuala Lumpur has introduced a new way to enjoy this timeless afternoon repast.
The arrival of a new afternoon tea set coincides with a new chef, Marco De Cecco, bringing with him authentic recipes native to Northern and Southern Italy to delight eaters. While the concept of afternoon tea isn’t commonplace in Italian culture, Prego takes a bold move to introduce something new for discerning diners.
Available Mondays to Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm, the new three-tier set features a mix of classic Italian savoury and sweet treats. Expect delights such as calzone and puff pastry with spinach and ricotta, while bruschetta and rosemary focaccia sandwiches rounds out treats in the savoury department.
Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to indulge in crostoli (deep fried dough) dusted with cinnamon sugar, crostata di frutta (fruit tart), tiramisu and mini cannoli from Sicily, among others. To complete the experience, your choice of soothing tea or coffee complements the meal.
