Van Cleef & Arpels has been operating out of Paris since 1906. Little has changed since. The maison is still one of the world’s finest high jewellery and timepiece purveyors, its whimsical, romantic outlook continues to be conveyed through traditional craftsmanship and old-world, high society elegance.
However, in Malaysia, things are looking a bit different. The brand first established a presence here in 2011, but it has since been refreshed with a relocation to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. In this more visible space and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the city’s most prestigious names, Van Cleef & Arpels will be able to showcase its exquisite pieces more effectively.
The landscape has evolved in the nine years since. “We can definitely see an increased awareness and appetite in high jewellery and high watchmaking in Malaysia,” notes Hugues de Pins, Managing Director of Van Cleef & Arpels, South East Asia and Australia. “The clients have a highly trained eye and a sophisticated taste for quality—quality of stones, quality of craftsmanship and quality of service. At Van Cleef & Arpels, we share the same passion for quality and excellence in all our creations and at our boutique, and we hope to further strengthen it following our boutique relocation.”
“There are a lot of opportunities for us to grow, and it starts with our care for the client,” he adds. “Whenever they come through the door, we hope that they will not only remember the creations they have seen but, more importantly, the interactions with our staff and the enchanting moments they have spent together in our boutique. The visit and—beyond the visit—are what we hold dear.”
