Nothing hits the spot like a hearty cheeseburger, the poster child of the fast-food world but also a vehicle for restaurants around the world to sate their experimental twists or give the luxury treatment. Botanica+Co have put their flair on their already elevated, and widely beloved, Japanese Wagyu Beef burger by transforming it into a fun DIY kit, to be enjoyed right at home.
The sister locations for Botanica+Co are located at The Vertical, in Bangsar South City, and Alila, Bangsar’s luxury hotelier. You may have recognised their signature, trendy greenhouse-like interiors filled with lush, leafy greenery, high ceilings, plenty of natural light and ample sitting space. But don’t let the Instagram-able decors overshadow their fantastic selection of food. The Botanica+Co menu is founded on the principles of using the freshest ingredients possible, even if it means making everything from scratch. The MCO has unfortunately meant that their space will not see diners in person anytime soon, but fret not as they are bringing their coveted menu to you. The best part? You get to claim all the credit for being the chef!

The star of the Botanica+Co Miyazaki Wagyu Burger is, of course, the patties. Two tender A5 Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu Beef patties come safely packaged with ice packs to retain their freshness. The seasoning and searing are the only elbow grease involved. If you’re unsure of how best to do that. Botanica and Co’s handy instruction sheet, helpfully included in the kit, takes you through it step by step.
After that, it’s merely down to assembling the burger. The juicy patties sit atop a bed of lettuce, topped with some melted brie, red onions, tomatoes, drizzled with a gorgeous ‘secret sauce’, and sandwiched together between a toasted house-made brioche bun. And the burger is paired with a refreshing Mesclun salad accompanied by the house salad dressing.
