A Brief Sojourn By The McLaren Elva In Malaysia Showcased The Many Facets Of This Physics-Defying Speedster

On a recent Thursday evening, the McLaren Kuala Lumpur dealership emanated with excitement as a select group of guests were given a special preview of the rare McLaren Elva, in town for a brief sojourn on its regional tour. Its name, drawn from the French phrase ‘elle va’ (meaning ‘she goes’) is a tribute to its physics-defying nature, a complex feat of mechanics and aerodynamics from one of the motoring world’s top exponents of automotive engineering.

At 1,269 kilos, the Elva (approximately RM8.5 million before taxes and options) is the fifth and lightest car from the McLaren Ultimate Series, with an exposed carbon fibre body which showcases the intricate work that goes into its every sinew of this muscular 802hp sports car.

Adding additional dimensions to the evening, with both scent and taste, was The Glenrothes, a Speyside single malt whisky matured in sherry seasoned casks. The three expressions made available on the evening was the Whisky Maker’s Cut, a 48.8 per cent ABV with creamy vanilla, orange peel and nutmeg character. Then came the complex 18 Year Old with its sweet vanilla, pear and fresh ginger notes before the much anticipated 25 Year Old, a heady mix of scent and taste exuding a character of salted caramel, mango and coriander seeds.
