REHDA Penang Tees Off Inaugural Golf Tournament With Prizes And Cheer

On Saturday morning, 27 May, 96 golfers descended upon the Bukit Jawi Golf Resort for the inaugural Real Estate Housing and Developers Association (REHDA) Penang golf tournament. Up for grabs was a hole-in-one purse of RM20,000 in cash, as well as numerous other novelty prizes.

Teeing off nice and early, the field of golfers encountered a fresh morning vista of fairways and greens, making good time on their respective flights. Post tournament, the participants also enjoyed an up-close-and-personal with platinum sponsor Volvo, represented at the tournament by its dealer Western Circle. A fleet of pure electric C40, the mild hybrid XC40 and flagship XC90 were presented for test drives.

At the prize-giving ceremony and lunch, the participants were in good cheer, enjoying a tasting of delicious scotch from The Glen Grant courtesy of the Campari Group and its Malaysian distributor Drinks Connexion. Onstage, The Glen Grant’s brand ambassador Giri Pancha elucidated the unique Speyside characters of The Glen Grant and shared remarkable stories of its origins – including the establishment of the Victorian Garden to showcase the exotic flowers encountered by Major James Grant (who had inherited The Glen Grant distillery from his uncle John).

Among the expressions on offer at the lunch were; The Glen Grant 10YO, an elegant single malt with notes of orchard fruits and butterscotch, as well as the Arboralis aged in ex-bourbon and ex-Spanish sherry oaken casks for creamy toffee and ripe pears on the nose. Bringing up the rear was The Glen Grant 15YO, bottled at batch strength 50% ABV and showcasing the distiller’s profound signature style – a rich palate of spiced pears, apricots and vanilla segueing into a nutty finish with delicate fruit notes.

Capping off the event, the organising committee chairman of the inaugural REHDA Penang golf tournament Dato’ Sri Lee Ville expressed his wholehearted appreciation to all the golf participants who made the inaugural REHDA Penang Golf tournament 2023 an event to remember. “The talent, skill, and passion that each golfer exhibited was truly remarkable and despite the challenges and obstacles, every player gave their best effort and demonstrated true sportsmanship and camaraderie,” he says, adding, “I look forward to seeing them again in 2024.”
