To celebrate the year of the dragon, the Lamborghini Community Malaysia (LCM) threw its first-ever Chinese New Year dinner. Held at Sunway Resort Hotel, the dinner event commenced with the arrival of a fleet of Lamborghinis, a spectacle that quickly drew the attentions of passersby and fellow guests. Then, to signify the auspiciousness of the Chinese zodiac animal of the new lunar year, a dragon dance was performed around the Lamborghinis, with guests gathering for a group photo.
Upstairs at the foyer, attendees enjoyed pre-dinner cocktails of Bottega prosecco and The Balvenie’s single-malt Scotch while admiring the artworks by SoYoo Gallery as well as intricate pewter collections by Royal Selangor. Right at the entrance, guests would experience the full immersion iXOOST for Lamborghini hi-fi systems – a handmade Avalan model that features the original exhaust pipes of the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica.
As the doors swung open, guests were then greeted by the sight of a Lamborghini Huracan STO, a road-legal super-sports car delivering the feel and technology of a race car, kitted with the highest-performing V10 engine and extreme aerodynamics. Next to the car was the flagship iXOOST Esavox, a limited 63-piece edition with an Automobili Lamborghini start button and original Aventador Lamborghini exhaust cover.
Up on stage, a series of performances kept guests entertained from an opening performance of drummers to a replay of the first LCM drive to the private island of Pangkor Laut Resort. With Rock Bird band adding frisson to the evening, the drama was heightened by the speed painting of artist Vinn Pang accompanied by a soul-stirring performance from violinist Dennis Lau.
Then, the excitement reached the fever pitch with a series of lucky draws; a limited-edition Roberto Coin dragon pendant, a Royal Selangor dragon sculpture with the auspicious number of 288 of 500, a singular ‘Bitcoin’ artwork by Korean artist Jake Lee in carbon fibre and a diptych by Vinn Pang of a dragon and Lamborghini, the latter which went to Enzo Wang, the president of Lamborghini Club China with his winning bid of RM23,888.
The evening continued with a series of lucky draw items with Roger Dubuis premiums, Royal Selangor Year of the Dragon collections and a US$7,000 (RM33,000) art piece by the artist Bae Jinhyun depicting springtime. With the official programme coming to a close, the night segued into a joyous celebration of fellowship with the Rock Bird band taking the stage with their high-octane performances getting the entire room on their feet.
