You may not get a chance to visit King Charles III’s private home, but you can take an olfactory journey to the royal estate. Truefitt & Hill, the world’s oldest barbershop, has unveiled a new line inspired by Highgrove House and Gardens in Gloucester, England.
Created in partnership with the King’s Foundation, the aptly named Highgrove collection includes eight grooming products that pay homage to the British countryside. The core fragrance instantly evokes Highgrove Gardens, with a rich cedar base, delicate top notes of cypress and lemon, and subtle hints of lavender, papyrus, and vetiver.
The star product is the Highgrove Splash, which costs £135 (roughly RM808) per 100ml bottle. The cologne has a sophisticated aroma that combines lively citrus with warming cypress, calming lavender, peppery copaiba balsam, and zesty vetiver. The collection also includes a fresh take on Truefitt’s best-selling pre-shave oil, a velvety shaving cream, a soothing aftershave balm, and aromatic plant-based soaps.
The packaging tips a hat to the storied 18th-century estate, too. The boxes are decorated with a watercolour, The Cedar Tree, Highgrove, painted by His Majesty himself. As an added bonus, 10 per cent of the net revenue from Highgrove products will go to supporting the King’s Foundation. Established by Charles in 1986, the charity (formerly known as the Prince’s Foundation) provides holistic solutions to challenges facing the world today.
Truefitt & Hill has strong ties to the British royal family. Founded by Francis Truefitt in 1805, the London barbershop has served the country’s monarchs over nine consecutive reigns. Truefitt’s client list includes almost all male royals since George III, famous politicians such as Winston Churchill, and celebrities like John Wayne, Cary Grant, and Fred Astaire. Such experience with the aristocracy means the team is well-suited to creating a Highgrove-themed collection. Charles also has some experience designing fragrances. In August 2022, the then-Prince of Wales released a scent with Penhaligon called Highgrove Bouquet.
Truefitt & Hill brand manager Austin Mutti-Mewse told Robb Report that the new Highgrove collection will be available internationally “very soon.” Alternatively, you could book a trip across the pond to visit the Truefitt & Hill store in St. James and take a tour of Highgrove Gardens while you’re at it. You can schedule an appointment with Truefitt & Hill by calling +020 7493 2961 and book a tour of the gardens via the Highgrove website.
