Inside Rolls-Royce’s New N.Y.C. Studio For Designing Ultra-Luxury Dream Cars

Rolls-Royce is rolling out the red carpet for New Yorkers.

The British luxury marque is opening its first private office in the Big Apple. At the new outpost, the brand’s North American clientele will have the opportunity to work directly with its designers to create their own bespoke vehicles.

Private Office New York is Rolls-Royce’s third such location worldwide—the other two are in Dubai and Shanghai, with another in Seoul on the way—and its first in North America. It’s only natural for the latest branch to be located on this side of the Atlantic. North America has been Rolls-Royce’s largest market for the past two decades and has seen an increase in bespoke orders in recent years.

The luxurious studio space may be located in Manhattan’s bustling Meatpacking district, but it has been designed to recreate the feel of visiting the automaker’s Goodwood headquarters in West Sussex, England. Once a customer commissions a Rolls-Royce vehicle through an authorized dealer, the project will be reviewed by the marque’s Bespoke team and referred to the private office if needed. There, they’ll collaborate with the onsite design team to create concepts that will help hone the look of the finished car or SUV. Authentic materials and samples—including leathers, paint finishes, and textiles—are available on hand to give clients more say and influence over the finished product, even if it’s something as complex as the recent Droptail roadsters or the Spectre Semaphore.

“Private Office New York responds directly to our North American clients’ requests for increasingly sophisticated Bespoke projects,” Martin Fritsches, the CEO of Rolls-Royce North America, said in a statement. “We see a growing appetite for our world-renowned craftsmanship, technology, and design in advanced commissions. This space gives us a home in the heart of New York’s newest creative district.”

Additionally, the studio will also host future exhibits featuring future Private Collections. These exclusive series will further highlight the artistry of Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke Collective, and show off the group’s most exquisite work.

Private Office New York will be open from Wednesday, September 25. Meetings to begin designing the Rolls of your dreams are available now by appointment.
