Leica’s New Bauhaus-Inspired Projector Is Compact Enough to Go Everywhere With You

After the success of its first projector, Leica is launching a new, even more compact model.

The Cine Play, as its name might suggest, has a small footprint but doesn’t skimp on functionality. Its clean exterior is made from a combination of dark aluminum and glass in a Bauhaus-inspired style that can easily blend into different settings. Its picture should be just as impressive thanks to a system of state-of-the-art lasers that ensure 4K quality for screen sizes up to 300 inches. According to the brand, projector’s RGB lasers will render a crisp, bright and natural picture with high-quality contrasts for accurate depth. All of these features are filtered through one of Leica’s signature Summicron zoom lenses.

But it’s not just about picture quality. Leica says that sound is also an integral part of the viewing experience; built-in Watt speakers aim to provide clear audio with an impressive bass to boot. If you’re looking to use the Cine Play as part of a 3-D surround sound system, a DTS Virtual:X audio-signal processor makes for a simple setup.

The Cine Play had a compact Bauhaus-inspired design and a 4K resolution.

One of Cine Play’s strongest appeals will be it versatility. Due to its small size and light weight, it can be maneuvered and taken to different locations with minimal fuss. Feel like watching a movie while enjoying a campfire outside or cozying up in bed with ample snacks? Leica has designed the Cine Play to be plugged in just about anywhere.

Of course, if you’re interested in making your projector setup a bit more permanent to outfit, say, a dedicated home theater, Leica has seen to that as well. A floor stand (sold separately) designed in the same minimal style supports both the performance of the projector as well as its aesthetic role as a design object. The integrated pin contact system eliminates the need for traditional power cables (and the likelihood of tripping over them) opting instead to receive energy through its baseplate.

Leica’s Cine Play can be ordered on the brand’s website. It retails for RM16,926 and its coordinating floor stand is RM2,208.
