Exclusive celebrations were held only at Molteni&C’s flagship showrooms worldwide to mark this milestone. Yoong Low, general manager of Stanzo Italia—the official partner of Molteni&C in Malaysia—expressed his pride in being part of this landmark celebration. “This special occasion is only hosted at flagship showrooms globally, and we are very proud to be one of them,” he said during an exclusive event held at the flagship store of Molteni&C in Malaysia in The Gardens Mall Kuala Lumpur.

The book, beautifully curated by writer Spencer Bailey and art directed by Beda Achermann, who is known for his groundbreaking role as creative director at L’uomo Vogue Germany, unfolds like a film. Each new chapter serves as a new episode, taking readers on a captivating journey through Molteni&C’s storied history, celebrated collaborations, and the distinctive qualities that have solidified its place as a powerhouse in the industry.

Its pages are rich with stunning photography by Californian photographer Jeff Burton, showcasing the production process, including prototypes and notable pieces by renowned designers and architects. Among these are the Gliss Master wardrobe system by Vincent Van Duysen, which embodies his signature minimalist style; the Chelsea armchair by Rodolfo Dordoni, who emphasises comfort and understated elegance; and the Diamond table by Patricia Urquiola, known for her playful and eclectic designs. These pieces, alongside others, can be experienced in person at the flagship showroom in The Gardens Mall.

Sustainability, a cornerstone of Molteni&C’s ethos, is a key theme explored in the book. The brand’s commitment to energy efficiency, renewable energy production, and the use of recycled materials is evident in pieces such as the Cleo tables by Vincent Van Duysen. Featuring eco-leather surfaces, the tables present a rarity in design, challenging expectations, and defying conventions. The brand’s eco-friendly production maintains a strong focus on quality, using materials like E0 grade melamine that adhere to the highest quality standards.

A special section of the book is dedicated to the rare archives of Gio Ponti, a pivotal figure in shaping Italian designs and is commonly considered the father of modern Italian design. His most iconic pieces, such as the striking D.655.1 Chest of Drawers and the D.157.6 Due Foglie sofa, are celebrated in the permanent exhibition ‘FROM THE COLLECTION / in dialogue’ curated by artist and designer Ron Gilad at the Molteni Museum in Giussano, Italy. Some of Ponti’s legendary works, like the D.157.6 Due Foglie sofa and D.847.1 console table, dating from 1947, are also on display at the showroom.

Next to Gio Ponti’s masterpieces, the Molteni Museum also houses a rich collection of design history, telling the story of the brand’s evolution, from its artisan roots in 1934 to its status today as a formidable force in the design world.

Molteni Mondo. An Italian Design Story is a tribute to its remarkable journey, but more importantly, it is a powerful embodiment of what Molteni&C values most—its passion for Italian craftsmanship, a legacy that will continue to inspire and define the future of design.
