At the launch of the first Malaysian Jura standalone boutique, located at Tropicana Avenue in Petaling Jaya, the undeniable aromas of freshly brewed coffee signalled the presence of a serious alternative to barista-crafted coffee. At the top of the line of Jura’s home offerings is the Giga 10 (RM24,999), a premium automatic specialty machine that delivers a staggering 35 specialty coffee options.
The secret, or perhaps not so secret, lies in its sophisticated makeup—two bean containers, two professional ceramic disc grinders, a revolutionary cold extraction process, and an innovative panoramic panel that makes the actual selection and creation of coffee a breeze. With all these elements in place, you only need to select your choice of coffee with a touch on the panoramic panel. Go from intense, aromatic espresso one day, velvety lattes the next or, for when the heat strikes, a fresh cold brew.
For the latter, Jura’s cold extraction process is key, making for cold brew specials. With a new water bypass, your coffee is levelled up, on par with the cups of joe made by professional baristas. The only difference? You needn’t even leave the house. For Jura, the advice for users is to have two varying types of beans to allow for intense dark roasts on some days, and a medium roast for a mild lungo the next day. The Jura store also stocks specialty beans made by the same company. Furthermore, the touch panel allows you to intuitively customise your beverage by selecting the size, intensity and ratio of coffee to milk (or milk foam).
And lest you ask, the Giga 10’s aesthetics would find a home in any modern home, with chrome elements on the front panel and two lidded bean containers, which recall the powerful engine of a sports car. A redesigned cup grille completes the look—an invitation and a promise for coffee made to perfection.
