Few figures in the whisky world boast a career as illustrious as Dr Jim Beveridge, whose experience spans more than 40 years. Known for creating some of the world’s most celebrated Scotch whisky blends, including Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Beveridge retired at the end of 2021. However, he has returned for one last masterpiece: The Master’s Cut, a super-limited edition Scotch whisky that celebrates the essence of blending craftsmanship.
A Unique Blend from Cameronbridge and Roseisle
The Master’s Cut combines whiskies from two renowned distilleries: Cameronbridge and Roseisle. From Cameronbridge, Beveridge has selected a lighter single grain whisky known for its vanilla notes. Roseisle, one of Scotland’s newest distilleries, contributes a fruity single malt. Together, they create a smooth Scotch with a candy-like richness, showcasing the pinnacle of whisky blending.
This special blend not only pays homage to Johnnie Walker’s rich heritage but also looks ahead to the brand’s exciting future.
A Celebrated Career in Whisky
Beveridge started his career as an analytical chemist before becoming one of the most respected figures in the whisky industry. His contributions to Scotch whisky were officially recognised in 2019 when Queen Elizabeth II awarded him an Order of the British Empire (OBE).
In reflecting on his final blend, Beveridge said: “Working in this incredible industry with Johnnie Walker has been an honour. It’s a privilege to work with the blending team, now led by Master Blender Emma Walker, to create this legacy blend. The Master’s Cut is my final Johnnie Walker blend, made at a turning point in the Johnnie Walker journey. The whisky looks to the future while acknowledging the past.”
Only 1,000 bottles of The Master’s Cut are available worldwide, with select bottles arriving in Malaysia. Priced at RM5,360 for a 700ml bottle, this limited-edition whisky, carrying a 40 per cent ABV, will be available exclusively at special Johnnie Walker events. Whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike will cherish this rare opportunity to own such a prized bottle.
Madhan Ramasubramanian, Diageo’s marketing director for Malaysia and Singapore, commented: “Jim’s commitment to quality and innovation has been essential to Johnnie Walker’s success. The Master’s Cut celebrates his extraordinary career, offering a blend for the world—and now Malaysia—to enjoy.”
