Tucked along the leafy, diplomatic enclave of Taman U Thant, Madge Mansions by Gamuda Land stands as an exclusive low-rise development offering just 52 spacious residences across 2.16 acres. Set within Kuala Lumpur’s prestigious embassy row, the development was envisioned as a private sanctuary—a rare blend of city living and a serene retreat, where comfort and discretion are thoughtfully prioritised. Recently, Iconz Design Consultancy brought a fresh perspective to one of its residences, reimagining the space with their signature touch of modern elegance and refined functionality—all while preserving the essence of calm, privacy, and effortless sophistication that defines Madge Mansions.
For Gamuda Land, Madge Mansions was envisioned as the perfect balance—a prime address in the city that offers the rare luxury of privacy and tranquillity. In that spirit, the recent RM1 million transformation by Iconz Design Consultancy breathes new life into one of its residences, thoughtfully designed for modern families who value both connection and comfort. According to Iconz’s principal and founder Darren Yap: “The design theme is centred around elegance, with a focus on creating a sophisticated and timeless atmosphere. The concept blends refined aesthetics with functionality, ensuring that each space feels both luxurious and inviting.”
This three-bedroom, four-bathroom unit (priced at RM4.8 million unfurnished) was envisioned as a space where thoughtful layouts and clean lines would lead to a harmonious flow of energy and thought throughout the home—each room serving its intended purpose yet maintaining that sanctuary ideal of warmth and elegance.
To start, the design prioritised the retention of the foyer, with a stylish bench allowing homeowners a sense of transition from inside and out, whether they were wearing their shoes or simply taking a moment to unwind before entering their home. “It was important for us to preserve the high ceiling as well—adding that sense of grandeur and a welcoming openness to the space,” Yap said.
Next came the merging of indoor and outdoor spaces via the spacious balcony—especially as this unit faced the garden and pool areas, allowing for calming sounds of water to enhance the ambience. The Madge Mansions garden, with its abundant greenery, also complemented the interior mood, thanks to its generous palette of earthy, woody, and neutral tones.
In his assessment, Yap noted that the colour scheme lent various facets to the ambience: warm wood for natural richness and grounding; beige added a soft tranquillity; black functioned as an elegant accent for depth and contrast. In the same way, a fully customised living hall lounge set of sofa, armchairs, and a three-seater backless sofa added a unifying factor to the home design.
Accents swooped in with a curvaceous light fixture from the living hall’s ceiling, which provided a subtle, illuminating glow within the marbled, tiled and polished interiors. “The light sculpture in the centre of the living hall allows a dynamic focal point, and is easily adjusted on-site to align with the desired look,” Yap said.
Perhaps one of the most strategic decisions in transforming this home space was Iconz’s removal of the balcony pool to give the entire space more functionality. “This modification enables the owner to fully utilise the length and breadth of the balcony for home events, letting occupants take in the relaxing views of the common garden and pool,” Yap said. “It maximises the potential of the space for both aesthetic and practical benefits.”
The result is a thoughtfully refreshed residence that captures the shared vision between Gamuda Land and Iconz Design—a home where refined elegance is paired with a deep sense of privacy, warmth, and ease. Designed to feel like a personal sanctuary in the heart of the city, the space offers the kind of understated luxury that resonates with both local and expatriate homeowners seeking comfort, discretion, and a quiet retreat from the urban pace.
