Bard romance
This year, Montblanc’s annual Writers Edition is dedicated to William Shakespeare, whose contribution to the written word includes some 150 sonnets, 37 plays, as innumerable contributions to the English language, including the words assassin, mimic and gossip.
On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s passing, the maison has crafted two writing instruments in his honour. Of the two releases, the more colourful Limited Edition 1597 (RM16,500) is engraved with his signature. The writing instrument is named for the year in which The Tragedy of Romeo of Juliet was first published, arguably his most enduring piece of work.
Its octagonal cap, a Montblanc first, has its shape inspired by the structure of the Globe Theatre where most of Shakespeare’s productions were staged. To complete the collection, Montblanc offers two pairs of circular cufflinks sporting the Tudor rose – red on yellow-gold PVD finish (RM1,250) and black on stainless steel (RM1,120).
