December is a short month in the auction world. Sales come in at a frenzied pace in the early part of the month, ending the year on a high as the pace suddenly stops mid-month when the Christmas holidays take over. From then, the auction world will be on a break until it emerges from hibernation in January. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any interesting sales going on; on the contrary, in the next two weeks there will be fine examples of Chinese and Native America culture jostling for the spotlight along with valuable pop memorabilia, Christmas offers and the usual fine examples of gems and art.
