Suitably measured
In a game of word association, one would be hard pressed to disassociate “German” from “engineering”, particularly when it comes to finely-tuned engines and high performance automobiles. But tailoring? Fine men’s tailoring has long been regarded as the domain of the English and the Italians (Meesrs. Liverano, Caraceni, Poole and Gieves and Hawkes are all inescapable names when the topic of gentleman’s clothing is raised), but now there is another.
Since 1924, German fashion house Hugo Boss has been in the business of ready made suits which gradually expanded into casualwear, shoes, fragrances and womenswear. After close to a century of perfecting their craft, the German marque has taken their service up a notch by introducing their made-to-measure program.
Combining ultramodern tailoring methods with years of knowledge and expertise, Hugo Boss’ made-to-measure program not only ensures a perfect fit, but from an extensive library of fabrics, lining and suit buttons, every customer is given the opportunity to create something wholly unique and suited to their own personal tastes. The service runs the gamut from business to black tie, and beyond suits, also offers customers the option to have their shirts, ties and pocket squares made just for them, ensuring that every detail is perfectly considered. Highly trained staff are on hand to advise customers on colour, texture and proportion that best compliment their build and colour.
All suits are made at Hugo Boss’ headquarters in Metzingen, Germany while the pocket squares and five-fold ties are handmade in Italy. Every suit is constructed from 180 pieces and is fully canvassed, ensuring suppleness and ease of movement for its wearer. Taking the personal touch one step further, a signature can be stitched into the interior of the jacket and the inner waistband using laser technology (we love the idea of having a significant others’ signature stitched into a wedding suit).
