The Hublot Classic Fusion line spins timely works of art using vintage fabrics

Finally, a watch that goes perfectly with the world’s most gorgeous suits, and we mean perfectly. Hublot’s collaboration with design maven Italia Independent continues with the Classic Fusion line, and this time instead of Texalium, the watches have been kitted out in vintage fabrics à la Sartoria Rubinacci.

It is known that the Rubinacci atelier houses an impressive collection of the world’s most beautiful fabrics. More than 60,000 square metres of precious houndstooth, tweeds, and other classical weaves fill its Milan, London, and Naples stores. Amid the plethora, Hublot and Italia Independent chanced upon a collection of tartans from the 1970s that would stir the senses of any hot-blooded sartorialist.

Six different fabrics were chosen by third-generation master tailor, Luca Rubinacci, based on the suits typically favoured by cofounder of Italia Independent, Lapo Elkann, himself a veritable style icon par excellence. The textiles gracing the dials and straps of the watches, Rubinacci professes, look “better than I could have hoped for.

The Hublot Classic Fusion Italia Independent comes in three case materials – titanium, black ceramic, and King Gold – featuring one of six fabric variants: Tartan, Houndstooth, or Glen Plaid, also known as Prince of Wales check. Time telling has never looked more suave.
