time for a drink
The 500-piece Flask 2 performs a magical feat: reinterpreting a whisky-storing device into an almost US$2,500 (RM11,116) kit. Two titanium tanks are housed in an aluminium outer shell, each storing 108ml of whisky – about five drams in total. The tanks are individually accessible through a stainless steel rotating mouthpiece, while in the base, labelled rotating drums help recall the expressions stored in each tank. These are usually hidden behind flaps that, when popped out, become stands for the bottle.
The sequel to the Flask, a collaboration between The Macallan and Oakley, Flask 2 brings watchmaker Urwerk into play. Bringing its engineering forte to the desk, the resulting Flask 2 looks like the sort of device that Solid Snake carries with him on incursions into enemy territory. Made of 156 parts, the mottled surface also recalls the scaled patterns used in Urwerk timepieces like the UR-105 T-Rex or the UR-T8.
