Cannes do
The vantage point most will prize at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival will be the red carpet. Elle Fanning, Rihanna and Tilda Swinton have already commandeered headlines at the world’s pre-eminent film festival. But there is another. Specifically among the waters of unimaginable blue in the Mediterranean Sea.
Over the duration of Cannes, from May 17 to 28, Louis XIII will provide its own prized vantage point in the Louis XIII Cabine. Welcoming friends, partners and festivalgoers, the legendary cognac house has taken over the ‘Smart Spirit’, a caïque 28m Turkish schooner built in 2004. Evoking the legendary voyages of Louis XIII cognac aboard the Orient Express, the Normandy and the Concorde, a ‘Boarding Card’ invitation allows access to the classic yacht. Once onboard, the Cabine will be serving Beluga caviar and Spanish bellota ham along with tastings of Louis XIII over press events, fashion shoots, private cruises, cocktail lunches and after-dinner parties from the glitterati at Cannes at dock or at sea. Ludovic du Plessis, the International Executive Director of LOUIS XIII, will be on hand to share exclusive moments with a few privileged guests.
The Cabine was fully renovated specifically for this year’s Cannes Film Festival with state-of-the-art accuracy by master craftsmen. With its sophisticated twin teak masts and mahogany interiors, the Cabine will cut a striking figure moored in the old port, just across from the Palais des Festivals. Beyond just a glamorous facade, there is also interest inside. The Cabine will be adorned by Stranos, the bespoke home collection for Saint-Tropez’ legendary yachts.
