As we count down to April 13 – the day of the Songkran, or the Thai New Year – Banyan Tree Samui is getting into the spirits of things with a special Songkran Indulgence package the resort’s spa, as well as a makeshift ‘street market’ with traditional music and dance, featuring Songkran-inspired concoctions on the menu.
The Songkran indulgence package combines a 90-minute massage treatment of your choice with a 60-minute “Rainforest Experience” for a discount price of THB7,000 baht nett. Themed around bamboo, the “Rainforest Experience” begins with a series of water jets at varying pressures and temperatures, plus visits to a steam room and sauna followed by ice facial treatments and ice bucket baths. This treatment is ideal for those with injuries or infirmities who prefer not to have their limbs stretched and popped. It is also the perfect massage for a client who is sensitive or ticklish. Here, the customer is in control – no one touches them. The customer can maintain their legs, body, head and shoulders in positions that either maximize or minimize water pressure. The two-and-a-half-hour treatment concludes with a herbal tea served while the customer lies back on a hot tiled bed, wrapped in towels.
