the swiss brand ignites a second wave of excitement through its collaboration with Pirelli
In the latest embodiment of Roger Dubuis’ partnership with Pirelli, the watchmaker has chosen to represent its benchmark of ‘super high-spec’ timepieces through a flying tourbillon, skeletonisation and a black DLC-coated titanium case.
The Excalibur Spider Pirelli PitStop, which was launched soon after the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix concluded, is bound to be a racing enthusiast’s delight. On the straps are coloured rubber inlays from certified Pirelli tyres. Each of the 28 boutique-exclusive editions will be delivered with a PitStop Collector Box, replete with seven straps mirroring the seven Pirelli tyre colours used in competitions the season before.
A Quick Release System on the strap and buckle means that users can complete a strap change in under three seconds, a feat driven by Roger Dubuis’ efforts to emulate the speedy tyre changes during races.
Roger Dubuis’ ode to high-rev horology is manifested in the new RD508SQ hand-wound calibre, rimmed with speedometer-like second counters. A flying tourbillon at seven o’clock and black Astral Skeleton architecture completes the vision of this second coming in the Roger Dubuis and Pirelli partnership, one which extends to the watchmaker hosting clients at global motorsports events in which Pirelli tyres rule the track.
