Golden AGe Tipple
Humphrey Bogart, the laconic reluctant hero of Hollywood’s Golden Age, certainly enjoyed his drinks.
Now, a collaboration between John Paul DeJoria’s ROK Drinks and the late actor’s estate has resulted in a series of spirits which hark back to Bogie (as he is fondly known) and his penchant for late nights and drinks. Indeed, Bogart himself famously quipped: “I have character in my face – it’s taken an awful lot of late nights and drinking to put it there.”
Success and laurels for Bogart Spirits have come quick. The gin and Irish whiskey variants were awarded gold medals at last year’s Craft Spirits competition. At The Hotel Majestic Kuala Lumpur – currently the only place to serve Bogart Spirits – the Hollywood-inspired cocktails using Bogart Spirits features riffs from Johnnie the barman in custom drinks such as The Mae West, Ginger Rogers and Jean Harlow. All cocktails are priced at RM45nett while bottles go for RM600 each. At the property’s Smoke House, Bogart’s rum and vodka are also available and intriguingly developed into unforgettable cocktails for those yearning for a touch of yesteryear.
