The updated Lexus GS
Built on the highly successful GS executive sedan range, the fourth generation in Lexus’ GS range includes a brand-new turbocharged engine in its GS 200t offering. This replacement to the GS250 actually increases performance capability despite the smaller engine size.
As the first turbocharged engine used by Lexus, this 4-cylinder petrol engine delivers 241hp at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 350Nm – underlining improvements of 17 per cent in power and 38 per cent more torque against the 2.5litre engine in the legacy GS 250. This extra brawn and agility is augmented by a water-cooled cylinder head, integrated exhaust manifold and, of course, the twin-scroll turbocharger. Smooth, linear acceleration is served up by an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission, another first for Lexus while a Power Saving Control may be activated to lower fuel consumption for relaxing highway cruising.
