Parmigiani Fleurier’s Hijri Perpetual Calendar Watch Showcases The Islamic Calendar With Splendour

Parmigiani Fleurier has laid claim to the first Islamic perpetual calendar wristwatch with the launch of the Hijri Perpetual Calendar (RM399,800 and limited to 30 pieces). This 44.5mm timepiece cuts a dashing image with its platinum case and slate grey dial. The calendar indications are described with Arabic calligraphy, and include the date, month and year, while an aventurine moonphase provides a bit of flourish. The technology of the perpetual calendar, which tracks the 12 lunar months of the Islamic calendar, is based on a one-off patented table clock the maison created back in 2011. One quirk of this calendar is that it never needs correction—unlike a typical Gregorian perpetual calendar, where most designs of which will need its first adjustment in the year 2100.

As is typical for Parmigaini Fleurier, the automatic movement within is finished to the absolute highest levels—even the unseen components. The rotor is also platinum; in fact, to accommodate certain Islamic traditions, there are no gold parts to the watch at all.
