Hublot celebrates a decade of support for the beautiful game
With the kickoff of UEFA Euro 2016 in France today, Hublot has released a new design for its familiar sideline panels, which officials use to indicate extra time and player substitutions. The panels will be first unveiled when the whistle blows on the start of the competition, but the Swiss watchmaker is already offering a preview – the Big Bang Unico Retrograde Chronograph UEFA Euro 2016 (limited to 100 pieces), which made its first appearance at Baselworld 2016.
The 45mm case carries the EURO 2016 logo on sapphire glass at the back, while the black ceramic surround is engraved with the timepiece’s individual number. Titanium is preferred for the bezel screws, crown and push-pieces; the latter two paired with rubber for durability. Strap and buckle are black rubber with blue alligator and treated black titanium respectively.
The special edition chronograph’s movement is bi-retrograde with automatic winding and column wheel with a power reserve of 72 hours and water resistance of up to 100m.
The colour combination of red, white and blue are employed to match the colours of the host country’s flag, which also inspired those used in this year’s competition logo.
