An update for for Porsche’s COMPACT Macan SUV
The agile sibling to the imposing Cayenne, the Porsche Macan’s mid-life update goes beyond the addition of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system and reaches under the bonnet to unleash a few more horses in the base trim — a 15hp and 20Nm bump to 252 hp and 370Nm respectively. The century sprint is now dispatched in 6.7 seconds — the optional Sport Chromo-Package reduces this to 6.5 seconds — on to a top speed of 229km/h.
As the human-vehicle connectivity interface, the PCM is intuitive in a manner similar to a smartphone in both appearance and usage, through the high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen which now offers the option of pairing of iOS devices via Apple CarPlay.
The Macan’s promise of balance and dynamics are expressed in its proportions and athletic silhouette. Details are recognisably Porsche in the “hovering” four-point LED daytime running lights and taillights that wrap around its haunches but where the Macan stands out is in the gorgeous three-dimensional treatment of the latter.
The new Macan is now available in Malaysia, from RM435,000.
