On a recent Tuesday morning, the fairways of Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club came alive with road kings, the Harley Owners Group members who showed up in droves to contest at the Route 77 Harley-Davidson Kula Lumpur golf tournament. This tournament was held in conjunction with the momentous 120th anniversary of the iconic Harley-Davidson brand, garnering a participation of 100 golfers.
The morning tee off saw luminaries in action, among them Dato’ Seri Tengku Baderul Zaman ibni almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States of America to Malaysia Brian McFeeters, Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat of the Malaysian Golf Association and Minister Counsellor Yoo Kwang Yul from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
Amid the camaraderie and friendly competition, was the determination of the field to win the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob (RM135,680) which was put up by Route 77 as the hole-in-one prize. Both amateur and seasoned golfers duked it out stroke by stroke, and while no one claimed the hole-in-one, there was still prizes galore with many partners chipping in with gifts and premiums. Among the prizes to be won were Harley-Davidson merchandise, Hard Rock vouchers, Garmin watches, Mighty Milestone cigar and paraphernalia, as well as Oakley eyewear, golf bags and merchandise.
The tournament, which was sanctioned by the Malaysian Golf Association, was also sponsored by AsiaEuro, Mighty Milestone, Oakley, Leica, Garmin, Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, Proviton STR, Hard Rock and the Route 77 Harley-Davidson Kuala Lumpur dealership. Adding festivity and cheer to this event were H.O.G. golfers from Brunei, Singapore, China and Vietnam who made this celebration extra special with their shared passions for Harley-Davidson and the open road. As the celebrations carried on into the prize-giving lunch, there was an unmistakable sense of fellowship among the golfers, with this tournament serving as a remarkable opportunity for everyone involved to fully immerse themselves into the lifestyle of freedom, recognised all around the world.
