A customised pair of speakers from Bang & Olufsen

As pure sculpture, it’s difficult to beat the Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 90. Its cabinet can boast some 65kg of aluminium in its construction, more resembling an alien obelisk from a science fiction movie than a pair of speakers.

Fortunately, the BeoLab 90 does more than serve as an interesting living room centrepiece. Each speaker houses 18 speakers scattered throughout its aluminium-and-wood enclosure, in effect making it a self-contained 360-degree surround sound system.

The system is also a fully active one, able to account for the room’s layout, furniture and the listener’s position relative to the speakers. The BeoLab 90’s Beam Width Control also allows for adjustment of the speaker’s throw, narrowing it for smaller audiences or widening it if it’s being used for a party.

The BeoLab 90 is customisable, too, and for Robb Report readers, Bang & Olufsen is offering complimentary customisation. The BeoLab 90 can be personalised with a variety of finishes for the external aluminium accents, wood stain and fabric covers.
