The passage of time represented in vintage timepieces

On a recent Thursday evening, guests of Robb Report Malaysia and Hong Leong Private Banking turned up at Sincere Fine Watches’ boutique in Suria KLCC to be regaled by the most exquisite creations of A Lange & Sohne. The brand, which was founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in the town of Glashutte, near Dresden, enjoyed a golden period before the interregnum of the Second World War. It rose from the ashes in 1994 through the industry of the founder’s great-grandson Walter Lange, who unveiled four prototypes, ushering a new era for the watchmaker.

At the event, guests enjoyed a walk through history with timepieces selected from the Lange museum, including some early 19th century pocket watches. Guests were also taken on an oenophile’s journey through the ages, by sommelier Yuhei Teraoka. Five vintages, each representing a highlight year for A Lange & Sohne, were presented to guests; with some late 20th-century bottles such as the 1994 Faustino I, and a 1999 Chateau Kirwan Margaux – a tribute to the seminal Lange Datograph.
