TWIL: Piaget’s New Minute Repeater, Chaumet’s Empress Joséphine Collection, And More
Catch up on this week’s most noteworthy updates from the universe of luxury.
In our weekly TWIL series, we bring you the latest in luxury news from around the world. This week’s highlights: Piaget debuts a minute repeater in the Polo collection, Chaumet is inspired by Empress Joséphine, one of the house’s early patrons, and Plaza Premium Group brings its latest luxury lounge concepts to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The Piaget Polo Finds Its Voice
Piaget unveils the Polo Minute Repeater, bringing one of watchmaking’s most revered complications into the Polo’s signature sport-chic silhouette. Measuring just 9.30mm in thickness, the white gold watch houses the formidable calibre 1290P, whose 430 components require weeks of meticulous hand finishing. Its partially skeletonised dial leaves the intricate mechanism deliberately exposed, creating a striking interplay between hand-guilloché gold, opaline finishing, and the smoked blue sapphire ring that sits on top of the exposed regulator. But its true spectacle is sound: the minute repeater chimes the hours and minutes through a mechanism engineered for clarity and resonance. Limited to just five numbered pieces per year, it is Piaget’s ultra-thin expertise, made audible.
Chaumet’s Joséphine Soir de Fête Collection Showcases Shimmering Pearls With Feminine Elegance

Chaumet unveils its newest high jewellery parure: the Joséphine Soir de Fête, where the maison’s longstanding tradition of pearl craftsmanship takes centre stage. Shaped by its muse, Empress Joséphine, each piece is adorned with shimmering pearls paired with trompe-l’oeil suggestions of teardrop-shaped diamonds. Fifteen South Sea cultured pearls embellish the necklace. The collection is completed by a brooch, earrings and ring. Inspired by an iconic fuchsia tiara, created in 1919 by Joseph Chaumet for Hedwige de La Rochefoucauld Doudeauville and Prince Sixtus of Bourbon-Parma’s wedding, the ensemble also features intricate floral motifs, reimagined with a modern twist. Finally, the maison’s fil couteau technique creates an elegant floating illusion against the skin, the metal structures vanishing from sight.

Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue Finds Beauty in the Blue Hour

Guerlain introduces L’Heure Bleue, a new fragrance for women inspired by the magic of the blue hour. First composed by Jacques Guerlain in 1912 after an evening on the Pont-Neuf, the scent returns more than a century later under the creative direction of Delphine Jelk. The fragrance places a newly developed iris tincture at the heart of its composition—a process that took three years to perfect using rhizomes sourced from Italy. Now lacquered in a dreamlike gradient of blue, it arrives in a contemporary interpretation of the house’s legendary inverted-heart bottle. Equal parts heritage and reinvention, L’Heure Bleue is a poetic return to a timeless hour.
