In our weekly TWIL series, we bring you the latest in luxury news from around the world. This week’s highlights: A Lange & Söhne’s chronograph perpetual calendar is back for another round, Chopard showcases exquisite hand-engraving in a unique timepiece made for charity, and Leica puts a motorsports-themed spin on one of its most popular cameras.

The A Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Gets A Limited Edition Platinum Execution

The Datograph Perpetual is back, in a limited edition of 50 pieces with a platinum case—and a five-row bracelet to match, making this execution especially hefty and luxe. The dial is black, with rhodium subdials, and baguette diamonds for hour markers—eleven in total. The Datograph Perpetual has been part of the A Lange & Söhne lexicon since 2006, when it combined a chronograph, perpetual calendar, and outsize date on a wristwatch for the first time in the Saxon manufacture’s history. Within its 41mm case lives the manually wound L952.1 calibre, made up of 556 components and including a column wheel, jumping minute counter, flyback function, and a calendar that needs no adjustment until the year 2100.

Chopard Creates A Unique Alpine Eagle For Charity Auction TimeForArt

As part of its continuing support of TimeForArt, which raises funds in support of contemporary artists via horological auction, Chopard introduces a one-of-a-kind Alpine Eagle 41 XP. Within a Lucent Steel case is a hand-engraved white gold dial, which renders a mid-flight eagle’s wing in remarkable detail. The plumage is sculpted in bas-relief, creating a compelling illusion of three-dimensionality, despite working with a dial that cannot be more than one millimetre thick at any point. A delicately applied patina then adds further drama, contrast, and depth. It took 80 hours of meticulous work to complete. The Alpine Eagle 41 XP TimeForArt 2025 Edition 3 hosts a self-winding two-hand L.U.C 96.17-L movement, which boasts a 65-hour power reserve thanks to two stacked barrels.

Leica’s Q3 Now Has A Special Edition Dedicated To Formula 1

A tradition of innovation and peerless engineering unites German camera icon Leica and the exhilarating motorsports of Formula 1, which has given rise to the Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 Edition (RM40,290). Leica’s compact, mirrorless camera with a fixed 43mm f/2 lens and 60MP full-frame sensor sports a few new goodies, including carbon fibre architecture at key touchpoints, such as the handgrip. Prized for its low weight and high rigidity, it is a material commonly found in the automotive world, but not on Leica cameras. The brand’s instantly recognisable red dot motif is a given, but on this model, additional red accents are found on the soft-release button and one of the two function buttons on the thumb rest—a design choice inspired by the buttons of F1 steering wheels. The camera also includes an exclusive ‘Formula 1’ profile that boosts contrast and saturation, resulting in richer-looking photos perfect for capturing the vibrant atmosphere of the racetrack, pit or paddock.

The New Le Fantastique Voyage De Monsieur Dior Collection Reimagines Childlike Wonder

Dior has unveiled the new Le Fantastique Voyage De Monsieur Dior Collection, transforming childlike wonder and discovery into poetic household objects. Harkening back to one of Christian Dior’s earliest inspirations, Jules Verne’s Around the World in Eighty Days, the collection centres around a hot-air balloon theme, alongside iconic Dior motifs including the CD monogram, stars, bees, roses, clovers and lily of the valley. Designed by Cordelia de Castellane, two oval serving dishes and six dinner and dessert plates artistically depict these motifs above the clouds, across countless destinations and iconic eras. Rounding out the collection are two trinket trays, made in collaboration with Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy, a historic French ceramic manufacturer founded in 1789.
