TWIL: Cartier’s New Tank Américaine Duo, IWC’s Tribute To The Original Ingenieur, And More
Catch up on this week’s most noteworthy updates from the universe of luxury.
In our weekly TWIL series, we bring you the latest in luxury news from around the world. This week’s highlights: two new modernist expressions of Cartier’s Tank Américaine, IWC Schaffhausen’s limited editions that celebrate the 1976 Ingenieur SL, and Ferrari brings the Universo experience to India.
Cartier Expands Its Tank Américaine Offerings With Two New Executions
Cartier’s newest Tank Américaine novelties reimagine the classic curved, elongated silhouette from 1998 with daring watchmaking and refined elegance. The Tank Américaine Skeleton is the first of the collection to house the manual 1988 MC skeleton movement, which is seemingly suspended in mid-air, and has bridges shaped after Roman numerals to indicate the time. The case measures 44mm by 24mm, finished in alternating polished and satin-finish surfaces, and is available in platinum or rose gold. The minute markers and Cartier logo are engraved and coated in black lacquer.
Meanwhile, the similarly sized, satin-finished platinum Tank Américaine Art Deco pays tribute to the clean aesthetic of the era. The gradient dial features a geometric, modernist pattern, manufactured in a technically demanding process involving several types of finish—sunray for the lightest elements, opaline for the darkest, and satin for the intermediate shades—and then a two-stage colouring process finishing with red-tinted lacquer, and then a final coat of gloss varnish for a shimmering finish. It is powered by the automatic 1899 MC movement. Both timepieces feature interchangeable alligator leather straps, available in burgundy and grey.
IWC Schaffhausen Introduces Two Homages To The Original Ingenieur SL

One of the many enduring chapters of Gérald Genta’s famous watch designs is the Ingenieur SL, released by IWC Schaffhausen in 1976. Only 598 pieces were made, and it has since become a highly coveted cult classic. It was the inspiration behind the watchmaker’s contemporary Ingenieur collection, which launched in 2023. Now, it gets a more direct homage in a pair of limited editions, one with a 35mm diameter (RM50,400) and one in 40mm (RM57,800). This is a rare case of the larger model being the vintage-correct size, as the original was considered oversize at the time. Both versions have a vertically brushed silver-plated dial, a reference to a rare variant from the 1970s. The lightning bolt symbol normally found beneath the dial’s ‘Ingenieur’ signature has been replaced by a ’50.’ Each version is limited to 1,150 pieces.
Ferrari Brings Its Universo Ferrari Exhibition to New Delhi For The First Time
Earlier this month, twenty-five Ferraris embarked on a 1,800-kilometre journey from Mumbai to New Delhi, passing through the historic cities of Vadodara, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Agra. The drive preceded the debut of Universo Ferrari in New Delhi, an immersive exhibition open to the public until 1 November 2026. The display includes iconic cars from the marque’s legacy, including the Scuderia Ferrari SF-26 Formula 1 car, the triple Le Mans-winning 499P, and the 296 GT3. The space’s Ferrari Challenge area also features the 296 Challenge, the first 6-cylinder engine car of the single-make series of the Prancing Horse. A very special Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is also on display. This car took part in the 2008 Magic India Discovery tour, a 13,000-km tour of the country.
The exhibition also highlights Ferrari’s personalisation programme through ten bespoke Tailor Made configurations across five 12Cilindri and five Purosangue models, each inspired by one of ten Indian cities. Developed with students from the National Institute of Design, the designs interpret local identities through colours, materials and patterns.
Beyond the exhibition, Ferrari reaffirmed its long-term commitment to India, with plans to expand its retail presence in southern and western India by the end of 2026. A charity auction was also held during the event to raise funds for educational initiatives supporting underserved children through charities Save the Children and Bal Raksha Bharat.

Silk Road Art And Life-Size Cave Reproductions Come To Southeast Asia For The First Time
In collaboration with the Dunhuang Academy, the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) in Singapore presents Sacred Caves: Dunhuang, Buddhism, and the Silk Road, exploring more than a thousand years of art, faith and cultural exchange. Datin Sofia Jane Makes Her One-Woman-Show Debut with Thrown

Written by Jodi Gray, directed by Gavin Yap, and produced by Superbear Productions, the play follows a child psychologist who listens to old audio recordings of her own childhood and those of her patient in an attempt to better understand herself. As the recordings begin to overlap, the boundaries between their memories blur, exploring themes of identity, grief, loss, and the transition from childhood to adulthood.
The show is presented by the Jeffrey Cheah Performing Arts Centre (JCPAC) from 20 to 22 and 27 to 29 November 2026 at the centre’s The Studio. Featuring an immersive, live soundscape, Thrown combines moments of humour with more unsettling reflections on memory and personal history. For Sofia Jane, whose screen career spans more than three decades, the production marks her first solo stage performance.
