These New Zenith Chronomaster Sport Executions Include Skeleton Movements And A Mother-Of-Pearl Dial
New options abound for the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, which sees skeletonisation for the first time, as well as a striking two-tone execution with mother-of-pearl dial.
The Zenith Chronomaster Sport is a modern success story. Released in 2021, it has been a key pillar of the watchmaker’s recent revival, and it managed to maintain the spirit of traditional horology, even as it delivered on an innovative, high-performance movement and the contemporary stylings of a sporty-yet-luxe package. Five years on, the collection is still streaming merrily along and, at this year’s Watches and Wonders, the manufacture has unveiled a few new seriously arresting executions.

It is a new chapter for the collection, as the Chronomaster Sport Skeleton line-up brings skeletonisation to it for the first time. The dial is sapphire, with a subtle black tint at its edge fading to transparent in the centre, which reveals the openworked movement beneath. This movement is the El Primero 3600SK, the skeletonised version of the celebrated automatic chronograph calibre with silicon escape wheel and lever, which beats at 5Hz and can, hence, keep track of intervals down to 1/10th of a second. The transparent dial means that its architecture, including the blue-finished column wheel and horizontal clutch, can now be viewed without having to look through the caseback. For good measure, the power reserve is 60 hours—not something to take for granted in a high-frequency movement.
There are four variants to the Chronomaster Sport Skeleton, all built on the familiar 41mm case with 100m water resistance, classic pump-style pushers, and durable ceramic bezel. Two are in stainless steel (RM 73,800), one sporting a rather striking green bezel with grey-toned subdials, and one with a more straightforward black bezel but with the traditional tri-coloured subdials. Both are offered with a three-link steel bracelet and an additional rubber strap.
On the more precious side of things, there is also a rose gold execution (RM 138,100) with a black ceramic bezel and black rubber strap. And for those seeking a true exclamation, there is a 10-piece limited edition in rose gold, with matching gold bracelet and 50 baguette-cut diamonds on the bezel for good measure (RM510,300).
The Chronomaster Sport Skeleton also heralds a new patented folding clasp, which includes a micro-adjustment system that allows up to 10mm of on-the-fly adjustment, by increments of 2mm. It will eventually be rolled out across other models and collections.
And if skeletonisation isn’t your thing, Zenith still has you covered: also unveiled was a 50-piece limited edition of the Chronomaster Sport (RM 88,600) in a two-tone rendition, pairing stainless steel case with rose gold bezel, crown, and pushers, and with both materials making up the bracelet. This striking combination is set off by a mother-of-pearl dial.
