The CIMB Preferred Golf Series 2023 Delivered High-Level Luxury And Excitement To Participants

In September 2023, CIMB Preferred launched the CIMB Preferred Golf Series, an annual luxury sporting event, specially curated for a select number of CIMB Preferred customers. Comprising four qualifying rounds that culminate in a Grand Final, the Series took place in some of the best golf courses in Peninsular Malaysia.

“CIMB has a rich history in golf. It is a sport we are familiar with, and it continues to be a great avenue for relationship-building and entertainment,” says XXXX NAME JOB TITLE XXXX. “Post-pandemic, we felt this would be the perfect time to bring back golf, but with emphasis on a more personalised and unique experience, reflecting the Preferred brand proposition. The CIMB Preferred Golf Series is a truly bespoke event, meticulously crafted to deliver an elevated and distinctive experience to our clients.”

One hundred CIMB Preferred customers had the privilege of teeing off the inaugural CIMB Preferred Golf Series on 20 September 2023 at the Mines Resort & Golf Club, Kuala Lumpur. Built on the former site of the world’s largest open cast tin mine, the parkland-styled 18-hole course, with its wide tree-lined fairways and well-contoured greens, was home to the CIMB Classic for three consecutive years. The second qualifying round took place at the Horizon Hills Golf & Country Club, Johor on 4 October 2023. Set within sprawling natural terrain, the 18-hole, par-72 state-of-the-art international championship golf course presented the players with exciting, yet rewarding challenges.

On 11 October 2023, CIMB Preferred customers teed off the third qualifying round at the Palm Garden Golf Club, Kuala Lumpur. Undulating fairways, high-lipped bunkers and tricky greens characterise the 18-hole course, delivering an unforgettable experience for the discerning golfer. The Penang Golf Club, the only championship 18-hole golf course on Penang Island, played host to the fourth qualifying round on 19 October 2023. The par-72 parkland course offered the players panoramic views of the island, rolling fairways and Tifdwarf greens for fast and exciting play.

The Grand Final on 16 November 2023 saw 80 winners from the qualifying rounds gather on the multi award-winning TPC Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club) course. On this 18-hole championship ground, the players revelled in the enthralling layout, superbly manicured fairways and impeccable course conditions, with different perspectives from each tee.

Throughout the Series, participants were treated to top-flight hospitality and experiences from start to end, on- and off-course. In advance of the event, they were invited to select their preferred colour of golf shirt and cap. The customised golf apparel was then placed inside each player’s personalised locker on event day.

On arrival, welcome drinks and hot towels were served to all players. During play, refreshment buggies stationed on-course offered chilled beverages, sun block, cold towels and refreshing facial spray; while at specially-erected halfway huts, players availed themselves to freshly prepared food, hot snacks, chilled beverages, freshly squeezed fruit juices, and cut fruits. At the end of the Grand Final round, players were pampered with therapeutic massages and professional grooming services before they headed out to a sumptuous dinner and fun-filled evening of networking and entertainment, including a special performance by Sheila Majid.

The top three winners of the Series received trophies and luxury lifestyle prizes; while the Champions walked away with a lavish five-day/four-night golfing trip to Japan that included Business Class flights, five-star accommodation and four rounds of 18-hole golf. Those who secured a hole-in-one during the qualifying rounds received an exclusive luxury timepiece, the Panerai Luminor Regatta Chrono Flyback, each. Finally, the golfer who successfully scored a hole-in-one during the Grand Final had the privilege of driving away in an avant-garde luxury SUV, the Range Rover Velar.
