Lamborghini’s Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce

Introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is a stunning work of what the marque calls reactive engineering.

“I think the new frontier here is more than aerodynamics and power-to-weight ratio,” Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said at the regional presentation of the Superveloce in Singapore. “It is also about the comfort of driving a car.”

To make this happen, Automobili Lamborghini worked on getting the weight down on what was already a carbon fibre monocoque frame. It added adaptive Magneto Theological Suspension (MRS) that reads and responds immediately to road conditions and driving style. The final result: 50kg shaved, with a power-to-weight ratio increased by 10 per cent for acceleration at zero to 100km/hr in 2.8 seconds, a top speed of over 350 km/hr and 100-0km/hr braking at 30m.

“For me, the most astonishing experience is when you come from a long straight, braking and turning into the corner,” Winkelmann says. “It feels as if it were a very small car. This is something that I’ve never experienced before in a car like the Aventador – the feeling is outstanding.”
