The Yar audio system
We hear you saying: for over a million ringgit, an audio system better be able to bring peace on Earth. Well, the YAR Audio System may not be able to solve the world’s problems, but it can transport you to a different level of aural heaven.
Billed at the ultimate audio experience, YAR (founded by Italian entrepreneur Adriano Marconetto) is an ultra-premium purveyor of entirely bespoke audio systems. The company’s first product – the YAR Audio System shown here – is limited to only 99 sets, and can only be solicited through personal recommendations to Marconetto or invite-only private events. When an order is made, each YAR system will take two to three months to make, cleaved from a sandwich of exotic materials that includes precious metals like titanium, silver and gold, as well as rare woods.
The final product – which brings together engineering talents with pedigree references like Ferrari and Pagani – is astounding. The alien spaceship looking B-Yond console and the Y-Der speakers produces a sonic harmony that is almost religious. And that is because each YAR is tuned to its specific habitat. Named after Kapustin Yar, Russia’s equivalent of Area 51, YAR asks clients to send photos and videos of where the system will be placed to build an optimal system. When finished, two YAR specialists are then despatched to install it, painstaking adjusting it by millimetres to achieve perfection. And as a finishing touch, the client gets to engrave their signature on the system.
