An engaging and highly interactive tasting session at Sitka Restaurant in Damansara Heights in early November, entitled ‘Opulence Revealed’, set out to explore the story of the House of Rémy Martin and its award-winning XO cognac (RM780). Guided by Gan Chian Mei, the brand’s International Brand Ambassador from Cognac, guests were encouraged to plunge straight into the extra-old cognac’s captivating explosion of fragrances, which proved themselves to be velvety, rich and lingering.
Amidst a splendid table laden with chocolates, Parmesan cheese, fragrant grapes and pears, walnuts and hazelnuts, dried apricots and figs, iris and jasmine flowers, stem ginger, and spices such as cinnamon and saffron, Rémy Martin XO’s distinctive flavours unveiled themselves. Floral notes of white flowers, woody tobacco, and late summer fruits melded to produce the perfect expression of Fine Champagne opulence on the palate, providing a detailed understanding of this exquisite blend of up to 400 different eaux-de-vie.
