The Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia’s charity gala dinner was a night of fellowship

For the love of Ferrari

Towards the end of last year, the Ferrari Owners’ Club of Malaysia (FOCM) organised a grand gala night themed ‘Celebrating the Heritage’ to commemorate fellowship and camaraderie, as well as the historic 70th anniversary of Ferrari’s founding. The evening kicked off with a cocktail reception before guests were ushered into the sumptuously bedecked hall of the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

A grand entrance of the FOCM Board of Directors came with the appearance of a live show horse. The entourage escorted the guest of honour, His Excellency Cristiano Maggipinto the Italian ambassador to Malaysia, to the main table. The evening was hosted by the multi-talented personality Hannah Tan and saw a variety of entertainment acts, including songbird Janet Lee belting out contemporary and classical songs.

In between the stellar four-course fine dining menu, a particular highlight was the auction of a piece unique by Hublot – the official timepiece partner of Ferrari. This one-off piece in King Gold, specially commissioned for the Ferrari Owners’ Club of Malaysia, which had a pre-sale price of RM138,888, smashed all estimates and was finally hammered down for RM288,888. Proceeds from a slew of other charity auctions were channelled to MyKasih Foundation, a non-profit foundation which helps less fortunate Malaysians through food aid, counselling, financial literacy and skills training programmes. Towards the night’s end, the room of approximately five hundred attendees witness the official certification by the Malaysian Book of Records, recognising the event as being the largest gathering of Ferrari cars in Malaysia, with 148 in total.
