Bending the rules
No stranger to the pace set by the partygoers and social animals of Malaysia, W Kuala Lumpur’s Retox brunch (which takes place once a month) is wisely – and sympathetically – scheduled between 12 noon and 3pm. It’s perfect timing, really: late enough to crawl out of bed and into their dining venue Flock, leaving you three hours to appease those hunger pangs and inflict a little more damage on your liver with their free-flow crafted cocktails.
Against a backdrop of W Music Curator Victor G’s electro-beats, you can work your way through a buffet spread that’s a combination of nice and naughty. While Alaskan crab legs and oysters rest on ice and a pink chocolate fountain towers over the dessert spread, Retox still adheres to Flock’s sustainable food foundations, where ingredients are fresh, organically grown, and ethically and locally sourced where possible.
Expect a few surprises at your table, such as illusionists who’ll blow your mind with their coin-bending, card-switching tricks while you wait for your cooked-to-order dishes to appear (do try Retox’s signature foie gras chawan mushi).
W Kuala Lumpur’s next Sunday brunch is scheduled for 24 March, ranging from RM188 per person (inclusive of endless mocktails, soft drinks, and juices) to RM288 if you’re in the mood for free-flow wine, beer, and cocktails.
