In the month of December, as a festive cheer descended upon the city of Kuala Lumpur, contemporary jeweller Kaimirra Tutan and automotive behemoth BMW Malaysia put on a three-day extravaganza for their VIP clientele entitled ‘An Embellished Dining Experience’. Held at the Michelin Guide restaurant Beta, the event immersed guests into BMW’s flagship models as well as the dazzling world of ammolites, a rare gemstone of organic origins used in Kaimirra Tutan’s jewellery.
As the most recent entrant into the realm of organic gemstones, ammolites are now grouped with amber and pearl in the class of biogenic gemstones, having been conferred official gemstone status by the World Jewellery Confederation in 1981. These rare gemstones are fossilised shells of prehistoric ammonites which lived some 70 million years ago. The creation of ammolites is almost serendipitous in nature, requiring a very sudden and compact mass of mineral cement to produce gem-like quality ammolites.
Feng shui master Addison Foo, who is also Co-Founder and Executive Director of Kaimirra Tutan, welcomed the VIPs and took them through a metaphysical preview of 2023, noting that the first half of the year would be particularly bountiful with the water element nourishing the Earth for good harvest in business.
Just adjacent to the jewellery show where the VIPs enjoyed their glasses of bubbly were two flagship models by BMW Malaysia: the X7 xDRive40i SUV and 740Le xDrive M Sport luxury sedan. Guests also mingled with Hans de Visser, the managing director and CEO of BMW Malaysia. The embellished dining experience would extend to a typically inventive meal by Chef Raymond Tham of Beta with starters of guava strips, Lawas rice with seaweed oil, and Habanero-and-calamansi touched scallops. As the event drew to a close, VIP guests walked away with lucky draw items as well as a Kaimirra Tutan ammolite, which they could select to set within a piece of jewellery of their choosing at the jeweller’s flagship boutique located in Mid Valley Megamall.”
