Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia Celebrates The Year Of The Dragon

To celebrate the auspicious year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac, the Ferrari Owners’ Club Malaysia (FOCM) threw a Chinese New Year dinner for its members and partners at The Qing restaurant in Bamboo Hills. Here, they were welcomed by a vista of lily ponds, ornate bridges, swaying bamboo fronds and a majestic dragon dance as well as acrobatic lion dances.

The excitement carried into the restaurant where FOCM members shared in the excitement and festivity of the Chinese New Year with the customary yee sang toss, as well as delicious drams of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Adding the excitement to proceedings was Hong Kong-originated jewellery brand Chow Tai Fook and its glittering array of pieces including one of the top lots for the evening, a 999 pure gold dragon ornament (蟠龙献瑞).

The evening progressed into up tempo beats with the live band serenading guests with a stream of suitably festive Chinese New Year songs, while Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 winner and emcee Lesley Cheam kept the proceedings lively. In his speech, FOCM President Abu Rizal Bakri Dato’ Sulaiman thanked members for taking the time to join the event and for their support and announced the calendar of events including a much-anticipated FOCM Festival which will gather Malaysian Ferraristi from across the country.

A charity auction would then commence, led by a member of the FOCM Board of Directors Bennie Hoo whose oratorial skills raised a sum of approximately RM100,000 for charity, through the auction of sponsored items from Chow Tai Fook as well as the official importer and dealer of Ferrari in Malaysia – Ital Auto Malaysia. A lucky draw would see guests walk away with choice items including Bang & Olufsen portal headphones, Chow Tai Fook pendants featuring South Sea pearls, diamonds and sapphires as well as a Lladro porcelain piece.
