A First Anniversary And Festive Joy For McLaren Owner’s Community Malaysia

On the occasion of the McLaren Owner’s Community Malaysia’s (MOCM) first anniversary and in conjunction with Chinese New Year, a fleet of 28 McLarens, representing Woking’s exceptional automotive engineering, powered up the twisty mountain roads of Genting Highlands, arriving right at the top at Resorts World Genting.

Here, with an escort car to clear the way, the McLarens were welcomed by lion dancers and dragon-costumed mascots from the Jing Sun Welfare Society. The MOCM members would emerge from their cars, offering customary red packets to the underprivileged and talented lion dance troupe. Following lunch and check in, the MOCM members reconvened at the magnificently opulent Genting Rouge, adorned with a giant gold dragon to reflect the mythical animal of the Chinese zodiac.

In his speech, MOCM committee chairman Ng Choon Jin recounted the community’s early days, and of how it has grown within the space of a year. He also thanked Shon Hong (Seung-Pyo Hong) president of McLaren Owners’ Club of Korea (MOCK) who personally travelled with 80 MOCK welcome packs to be distributed to all guests for the evening’s occasion.

In the ensuing segment, Ng, together with the help of the entire MOCM committee, appealed for kind donations to support a charity food project Millad Mbong which works to feed the impoverished and homeless in Kuala Lumpur, a cause that is supported by MOCM on a weekly basis through voluntary involvement and donations. Through an earnest and heartfelt plea by Kenji Wong, a grand total of RM38,800 was raised through the sale of special MOCM Year of the Dragon t-shirts as well as contributions from well-wishers, far exceeding initial expectations.

With that, the good vibes flowed as MOCM members and their guests enjoyed a delightful menu from the Resort s World Genting team, with highlights comprising double-boiled soups with scallops, roasted London duck with black truffle, steamed Dragon grouper in superior soy sauce, wok-friend tiger prawns, braised sea cucumber with abalone and a claypot rice with assorted waxed meats. Entertainment then came in the form of a presentation on lucky signs and stars by feng shui master John Khek of YS Consulting Group, as well as the dulcet vocals of Lim Shuang and her band.
