Johnnie Walker Blue Label Enlivens A Pre-Chinese New Year Gathering

The evening also saw IWC Schaffhausen’s timepieces, Hoe Huat’s state-of-art gear and cultural animations.

Amid the grand interiors of dim sum restaurant Halley at Mandarin Palace, a stream of guests and well-wishers turned out for a pre-Chinese New Year gathering and clients’ appreciation by Chee Hoe & Associates, held jointly with Robb Report Malaysia, IWC Schaffhausen, and Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Here, in the elegance of the restaurant’s imperial palace ambience, the 1,118 intricate phoenix and dragon expressions, and celestial scenes, they were welcomed by emcee Selene Lee, who gave them a primer of all the points of attraction.

Many immediately made a beeline for the tarot card reading and Chinese calligraphy section. Meanwhile, timepiece aficionados explored the IWC Schaffhausen display, with its bejewelled 34mm Portofino Automatic Day & Night, the Year of the Snake Portofino Automatic Moon 37mm, and several current Portugeiser references, including a Perpetual Calendar and Tourbillon Day & Night.

Following a lively yee sang toss for abundance, growth and prosperity, the guests tucked into the various culinary highlights of Halley at Mandarin Palace, including its dim sum specialties. As the live band starring popular vocalist Lim Shuang took centre stage, the evening’s libations of Johnnie Walker Blue Label began circulating.

Among some of its display highlights was the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet limited edition, where the iconic bottle of Blue Label is given an aprés-ski facelift and sheathed in a reversible cross-body bag by luxury winter wear label Perfect Moment (RM1,787 for a 75cl bottle).

Also, in light of the upcoming zodiac animal in the Chinese lunar calendar, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Snake bottle by artist James Jean was on display (RM1,118 for a 75cl bottle). The work by the Asian-American visual artist adorns the entire bottle with splashes of gold, orange, blue and red. “With Johnnie Walker Blue Label Lunar New Year,” Jean explains, “we wanted to create a snake that felt different, new and innovative—respectful of the past but also looking to the future with optimism, in the same way that Johnnie Walker stands for progress through that incredible Keep Walking spirit.”
