As the world’s oldest watch manufacturer founded in Geneva in 1755, Vacheron Constantin has continued to innovate through the centuries without losing its identity. Similarly, the Pearl of the Orient’s story has been shaped by centuries as a seaborne crossroads of trade, tribute, and movement, yet retaining the distinctive essence that makes it quintessentially Penang.

The island recently provided a fitting setting for an intimate two-day series of dinners, where a select group of 30 Robb Report Malaysia guests enjoyed an identical, curated programme over consecutive evenings.

Across both evenings, guests were treated to the same carefully curated experience, beginning at Blacklinen at The Millen Penang, Autograph Collection, a Michelin Selected contemporary grill house, with a five-course dining experience crafted exclusively for the event.

On each night, attendees enjoyed a private showcase of the Swiss house’s latest novelties and limited editions, brought in directly from its boutique at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Those wishing to inspect the timepieces more closely were ushered into a private salon to admire the intricacy of each creation firsthand, while brand representatives elaborated on Vacheron Constantin’s pursuit of technical innovation, exceptional complications, and singular design language.

Highlights included the Historiques American 1921 40mm, a reinterpretation of a 1921 model created during the Roaring Twenties that allows the wearer to read the time diagonally without turning the wrist. Equally captivating was the Historiques 222, a modern reissue of an iconic 1970s design featuring an integrated bracelet, a tonneau-shaped case, and a fluted bezel. Further creations on display included the Égérie Moon Phase Spring Blossom and the Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin.

The evening continued with guests indulging in foie gras with grilled fig, smoked Brie espuma and verjus, paired with exceptional wines including Domaine Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Combe Aux Moines 2021. Other highlights included dry-aged Wagyu striploin with seasonal greens and celeriac.

Wines specially curated for the event included the Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2022 (second from left) and the Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru. La Combe Aux Moines 2021 (third from left).

It concluded with a toast to Vacheron Constantin’s enduring legacy, with pours of the Domaine Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2022.
